Church in society

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the Church in society pages from the Church
of Scotland website where we offer an overview of the
role the Church takes in Scottish and international
life.

Make Poverty History march in 2005
|
The areas that we're involved in include
the Fairtrade campaign, asylum seekers and the
Make Poverty History campaign which put Scotland
on the international stage in 2005 during the G8
meeting in Gleneagles. |
Tied into these issues is our parliamentary office, an
ecumenical post which gives the Church of Scotland a strong
voice in UK and Scottish politics.
As a presbyterian organisation, the Church of Scotland
has a range of views on any one issue. Where consensus
has been reached at a General Assembly, or a collective
view is put forward by one of our councils or committees,
it will be included in our life events ethics section.
The Church and Society Council has the remit
for society issues, such as parliamentary affairs, racial
justice and moral issues and you can read more about the Council's work on their pages.
