Safeguarding Office
Introduction
The Safeguarding Office is the nucleus of an extensive national
and international network of volunteer trainers, contact persons
and coordinators, all working to protect those most vulnerable
in our congregations. This is achieved by advising on safe recruitment,
facilitating training and supporting congregations and presbyteries
with problems and issues as they arise.

Safeguarding Office: at the heart of protecting
the vulnerable in our congregations
It is the long term vision of the Safeguarding Office to
utilise the extranet to its full potential and facilitate
communication through this medium with the wider safeguarding
network. This communication will include information sharing
and discussion. Initially this facility will be made available
to the training network. Progress will be monitored and evaluated
before extending the service further.

Resources
Child car seat law
Information and guidance about the new UK child safety car seat
laws is available on the dedicated Safeguarding
Office resources page on the main website, where it is of
general relevance. You may also wish to read the minibus circular,
from the Law Department,
part of the Central Services Committee, which covers the position
for those types of vehicles
Meetings and training calendars
The following guides to training offered by the Safeguarding
Office are available to download in Word [.doc],
and pdf [.pdf] formats.
Safeguarding Trainers' Forum
A forum of safeguarding trainers
exists to discuss training needs, issues, ideas and suggestions.
Formerly run as regular meetings, it was found that very few
trainers could physically attend and in consequence the forum's
function has been transferred to the Trainers'
online area.
Volunteer workers and Co-ordinators training calendar
The Safeguarding Office also provides training for Safeguarding Co-ordinators and Volunteers. A training calendar for both Safeguarding Coordinators and Volunteers is available below. A registration form for co-ordinator training events is also available to download.
To view PDF documents we recommend using Adobe Reader software, which is available to download for free from the Adobe website.
