V(2) (1962) REGULATIONS GOVERNING DUTIES OF THE MODERATOR OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY (AMENDED BY 1980 REGULATION II) (a) To preside over the General Assembly and to perform those duties as stated in the Standing Orders; (b) To visit Presbyteries according to the Scheme of Visitation sanctioned by the General Assembly; (c) To perform such duties as may be directed by the General Assembly, and to represent the Church of Scotland on historic and national occasions, as they may arise; (d) On such occasions as a Moderator is asked to express an opinion on any matter of national or public importance to be mindful of the views of the General Assembly and of its Committees and Departments and so far as possible to consult with the Conveners of such Committees and Departments but not withstanding such consultation to accept instructions only from the General Assembly; (e) To undertake such other duties as he or she may choose during his or her term of office.
