Connecting
with the world |
|
Our work and remit
The World Mission Council is the channel through which
the Church of Scotland responds to the command of Jesus:
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to
all creation" (Mark 16:15).
We work in countries around the world, usually on the
basis of partnership with local churches and institutions
and always with a view to involving church members in
Scotland in the development of the work. The cultivation
of two-way partnerships between congregations overseas
and congregations in Scotland is not only a matter of
creating friendships but expanding horizons.
|
It is a way of giving
effect to the great themes which mark the Church’s
engagement with the world at this time: evangelism,
reconciliation and combating poverty.
By making
these connections, you will make a difference.

SPECIAL FOCUS: Minority Christians
World Mission's 2010 General Assembly Report featured Christians worldwide who live as a religious minority, and highlighted many of the issues they face. The Report will be published and made available to churches later in the year. |
 |
Our Aug-Sept issue of WM magazine hears from some of our friends and partners who live in complex and difficult circumstances. They tell us about life today for Christians in Palestine, Nepal, Nigeria, India and Bangladesh. WM's Prayer Focus page provides resources for both prayer and action. |
| One of WM's contributors in this issue is Elijah Obinna, a theology and sociology student, and minister with the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria. You can hear an audio interview with Elijah here. |
 |
 |
Another contributor, Nima Gishing, from Nepal and currently a student in Scotland, will be one of the main speakers at a joint conference, Stories from the Frontline, taking place on 2 October 2010 in Glasgow. |
Extranet
Our extranet site is for staff, office bearers
and those in the ministries, to provide specific information
on the council's minutes and meeting dates. |
